Basic Degree Programs Internship

 

Our Vision

Internship is necessary for Divinity training. Only when the students experience and explore in the field, classroom learning can be integrated into pastoral practice in order to deepen their pastoral concepts and skills.
 
Importance and Aims

Providing the actual situation for students to practice the theories, moreover learning from the supervisors about administration and pastoral care, more importantly to learn to serve spiritual lives. And among congregation, we can learn to get along with each other and grow and strengthen each other.

 
Goals

To build up serving students that hold on to the truth, and equip with the following six serving elements to meet the needs in actual situation.

  1. Evangelism
  2. Teaching
  3. Preaching
  4. Leading and Administration
  5. Fellowship and caring
  6. Pastoral counseling

 
Student Evangelistic Band

All M.Div and BM students must be the members of student evangelistic band since the 1st year of study. Student Evangelistic Band is an official student association in Alliance Bible Seminary. Student leaders are responsible from planning to carrying out and to reviewing the school year evangelistic ministries. Futhermore, a tutor is anointed by the seminary as their consultant. 
 
Church/ Organization Internship

  1. Students have to first discuss their internship direction with the Director of the Field Edu. Dept., and intern in church/ organisation, under supervision of senior pastors. To complete a degree program, students should have at least two internship fields, and learn to serve in different situations.
  2. Although our internship is designed in church-centered, students with specific calling and gifts are encouraged to intern in different organisations. Students with this willingness have to first aquire the Director's consent.
  3. All internship must to taken under supervision of senior pastors, learning areas include: 1. obeserve supervisor, 2. participate in serving, 3.  reminders from supervisors, 4. review and evaluation of the internship.

Unit 1:Mainly obeserve, and focus on evangelising, teaching, caring and interacting with congregation.

Unit 2:Focus on preaching, leading, administration and counseling technique.

Unit 3:7-8 weeks of fulltime pastoral internship, arranged in July to August before the graduation. Through the full-time internship, to build up a all-rounded concept on serving. The students in Inter-cultural Studies(ICS)must take the internship overseas under supervision. Please contact the Chair of the Division of ICS and the Director of the Field Education for more details. 

Master of Christian Studies(MCS)is a full-time lay leadership program, internship could be arranged with discussion with the Director of the Field Education. Only when students are confirmed with Full-time Pastoral calling and transfer to M.Div, this arrangement could be officially counted as fulfilling the program requirement. Graduation is only permitted when all the internship period and requirements are completed.
